Any thoughts and opinions

Hi guys

I just purchased myself some headers/extractors for my car. Now before putting them on I want to cover them in exhaust/heat wrap.

I just want know if there are any gains apart from reduced temp in the engine bay and if its true that it would deteriorate the pipes faster?

Thanks

you wont see much gains, and yes its true, its gonna start burning the carbon off the pips, which will turn them soft eventually also it will trap condensation moisture and promoting rusting. Stainless survives longer in it.

I read in a bike forum that you could ceramic coat the pipes before and after wrapping them and this would reduce/prevent the pipes from rotting away. But doing that and buying the wrap would easily cover the costs for me to HPC coat them.

Thanks Flash for info

I think if you ceramic coat, you don't need a wrap since the coat virtual keeps the heat within what's coated thus a cooler engine compartment.

Got my headers back from ProCoat. They look sexy with a brand new HPC coating

Hey Greg. I got the headers from trademe from that auction you told me about. I just haven't got a around to attaching them to my car as I was deciding on heat wrapping or HPC coating them.

But yea I'm happy with the way they turned out. Even though I spent more on coating them :P

I'll be putting them on this weekend with my 2" through exhaust at Mr Muffler
